Exhibition: Živa Drvarič

Živa Drvarič (*1988 in Slovenia) studied at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and completed her studies at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main. Her artistic practice is characterized by the observation of everyday objects, gestures, functions and processes. Her works are created through the transformation of everyday objects and the reinterpretation of spatial elements. Živa Drvarič has exhibited her works at the Kunstverein Eisenstadt, the Pohl Collection in Marburg, the Ravnikar Gallery and the MGLC in Ljubljana, the Kunsthalle Bratislava, Laurenz in Vienna, Sharp Projects in Copenhagen and Portikus in Frankfurt am Main, among others.

The inevitability of human existence between the visible and the invisible, between the individual and the collective, and between the actual and the mental space are the key concepts of her artistic practice, in which she incorporates elements of intimacy, coexistence and the nature of things. Transient motifs and familiar elements mingle with the unusual. Everyday objects, freed from their primary function, become the protagonists of poetic spatial compositions in which things no longer exist to be activated by us, but are themselves the ones that activate us.
